Hurricanes and Lightning

The summer month of August is almost here and we are right in the middle of hurrican season, and we don't mean the football team! Hurricane season makes for some great photography. Last year, Hurricane Irene pushed up the East Coast. In Florida, the wind gusts were between 20 and 50 MPH while the waves were 5-12 ft high. Our first thought was "To the beach"! We arrived at the beach around 5 am and watched in awe at the swelling waves. A few surfers were out and we caught some great images, as you may remember from our Hurrican Irene Gallery on our website www.perronephotography.com. So far this year, we have had only one Tropical Storm, Debbie. Unfortunately, we did not have a chance to make it to the beach in pursuit of the perfect waves Debbie created. Living near the East Coast, there will be many chances to make up for missing Debbie. Tropical Storms frequent our summers in Florida. The image below is of Hurricane Irene from last year, taken at the Cocoa Beach Pier.

They recently decided to update their virtual tour on Google and Perrone Photography was chosen for the task of capturing the large and unique layout Jackson's Bistro has. American Independence

Photo taken from parking lot of Cape Canaveral Hospital, Cape Canaveral, Florida

The Fourth of July represents all of the freedoms our country is based on. Throughout the years, Americans have continued celebrate our victory in various ways; with the most popular being a BBQ with family and friends, fireworks, and great food. When you celebrate the Fourth of July, you are not just throwing a party; you are acknowledging your freedom and the sacrifices made by those who have kept you, and continue to keep you safe.

The Fourth of July is a great day for photographers to capture some amazing images. Fireworks are made in a variety of eye catching colors and shapes. Below are some tips for taking great images of fireworks so you can remember the sight for years to come.

Photo taken from parking lot of Cape Canaveral Hospital, Cape Canaveral, Florida

Tips for photographing fireworks;

 Equipment:

1: Camera

2: Shutter release cable or self-timer on camera

3: Tripod or a sturdy flat surface to set your camera on

 Place your camera on the tripod. Attach a shutter release cable or set the camera’s self-timer for 2-5 seconds to help eliminate camera shake.

Set your ISO to 100 or up to 200.

Adjust your cameras shutter speed anywhere from 1 second to 5 seconds, with your aperture between F8 to F22, or lens’ smallest aperture setting.

Remember: The smaller your aperture is set, the more depth of field your image will have. Also, keep in mind that the smaller the aperture setting, the longer your shutter speed will be.

Perrone Photography loves to see Amercian Photography. When you photograph your Fourth of July images, be sure to share them us! Perrone Photography is holding a contest for the best photograph from the Fourth of July 2012. The image may be anything pertaining to July Fourth Celebrations. The image must be taken by the participant.  The winner will receive a free one-hour studio session for you and up to three family members. Please submit your images via email to info@perronephotography.com no later than July 9, 2012. The winner will be announced by July 11, 2012.
